At the Young Dragons Bežigrad youth centre, we support young people in co-creating a community that develops from their needs and operates under the guiding principle of “For young people, by young people”. We encourage young people to share their knowledge with other young people and support involving anyone who wants to be a part of the growth of the creative potential of the individual and community.
We also live in solidarity by addressing issues concerning young people’s mental health and individual monitoring. Within the latter, we connect volunteers and adolescents who require assistance in overcoming obstacles in school and everyday life. With the assistance of a volunteer, adolescents strengthen social bonds for school, discuss their problems, and learn how to deal with problems on their own, even when their world appears to be falling apart.
In August, we bring the community together at the annual festival Being Young is Awesome, where visitors can learn about the various ways to spend their free time in Ljubljana and where we celebrate the end of summer and welcome the new opportunities that the transition to autumn brings.
